    Mobile phone through company

Previously (and this was a few years ago), tried to get phone through the company. BUT it was just too much hassle and the business tariff cost more than the personal one so it just wasn't worth it.

So I got a personal contract with new phone and unlimited minutes and didnt claim.

After a new phone now. Galaxy S7 more than likely. Noticed, I can get a better sim only contract for £15 a month (12 month min) or a phone included one for £37 a month (24 months).

So, basically, you're paying for the phone over the 24 months.

Whats the best plan these days? Buy phone through the business and then do a personal sim only plan? Or are there decent business tariffs out there?

With either method whats the deal for personal use? i.e. If I've got either a phone or contract paid by business.

Buy the phone outright invoiced to YourCo. SIM only deal. Just pay it all via the business (even if on a personal deal for the SIM). No doubt you will be offered contra advice here...

I bought my own phone through the company. I pay for GiffGaff sim only through my company.

Business tariffs are a rip off.

What you should have done is get a phone and business contract, then when that contract is up haggle with the operator to get the best tariff.

You need to know what the other operators are offering and they put you through the retentions department when you ask for your PAC.

I find myself swapping between EE and O2 business 12 month sim only deals. One of them definitely offers the same tariffs on business and personal contracts and when I started I saw a good tariff in the back of the metro.

I was told by accountant that the invoices / receipts for the sim payments must be in the company name and not mine. So I think this need to be considered if doing a personal deal. Giff Gaff lets me put my company name on the invoices.

Yeah business tariffs are a rip off, I am on a sim only O2 Business Tariff, everything in the company name, buy the handset out right through the company and hope the saving on CT offsets the extra paid on the contract.

Vodafone also allows this but if the contract isn't with the company you are wasting your time.

Last time I looked at Vodafone the businesses tariffs were the same as the personal ones.

I was working with a guy who changed his house name to be the same as his company, so when he signed up for anything personal the company name was on there

Its a 30 day sim only thing. Accountant seemed fine with it. Do I need to reconsider ?

EDIT: Looks like I am signing up for a business tariff

Well it seems pretty fundamental to me. If the contract is with you it's your phone, if it's with the company its a company phone. AFAIK the advice has always been contract with company paid by company and you are OK. It's not worth dicking about with any other setup.

If your accountant is OK with it I'd be asking why just to be sure. BTW I dunno how 30 day things works so up to you.
