The company I'm currently working at have a habbit of closing early on Xmas eve, they pay all permanent staff for the whole day, but alas will only pay me for my time in the office. I know there are pros and cons with this sort of work but wandered if this is normal procedure.

    Merry Xmas
    yes:
it's normal for clients to close over xmas
it's normal for permies to get paid for time off
it's normal for contractors to only get paid for the time they work
    enjoy your afternoon off

ignore the regulars, they're like tramps on a bag of chips when it comes to people asking questions

Depends on the question surely. If the question is a bit nooby and is about being a disguised employee we just wait until one comes along that can relate and provide an answer so thanks for that.

If you want the OP to take you seriously it might be time to buy another Caps Lock key.

I see the forums have improved with the sarcastic approach, very professional indeed. Thanks to those that can still give a professional answer.

Permies get paid for the half day and bank holidays but any extra time comes from their holiday allowance.

Its a bit of fun, you can have that you know and still be professional.
You have got some useful answers too, from some of the same people.

As I said to you, what does it say in your contract?

In fact I would want to stay on and get my project finished, I also want to be paid, if the place closes early I can't have either. My contract states I am paid for each quarter of an hour hour I work for them. Disguised employee has no part here why would this deem me to be caught by IR35?

You can't work in a closed building.

So unless you can WFH you can't work.

                      I bet it doesn't.
