It's just frustration on my part and luckily isn't something many of us do. I just don't get why people can't help themselves just a little bit before hitting the forums and asking for their bums to be wiped for them. For example. Just copying his first, rather odd question, in to google gets a list of links and the first one give a really good in depth description of all the reporting periods, the differences, the options and advice on what's best for your company. 2 seconds of effort would have given him a good understanding of a whole host of aspects I suspect he has no idea existed. When he's digested that THEN come and ask a question on the specifics.Originally posted by yMyjgT View PostI don't understand this attitude.
I don't know why people on here expect new contractors to walk into the world of contracting already knowing the basics. It's so easy to be sat in a permanent role one day, and then rapidly find yourself in a contract role. Yes, people *should* be finding out everything they can, legal responsibilities being a director, etc, etc, etc, but contracting isn't some magical aspect of life where human imperfections don't apply.
If people are finding new contractors on here so annoying/frustrating, actually attempting to gain an understanding of things, then perhaps there should be another sub-forum called "Accounting / Legal - Newbies", where those who are less annoyed/frustrated can reply.
People are not incapable of doing their jobs, or going to be hard work for an accountant, just because they've ended up in a contract role without being fully prepared for it.
If people are willing to go alone and be the best in their field how come people can't put a bit of effort in first? Either that or it's just me being a grumpy b****d.'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!

.
HTH.
However, I do agree.
I spent days of research prior to getting my first role. I didn't want to leave anything to chance, as I had been planning the move, to contracting, for 5 years.
Maybe this is where we both differ, from some of the current crop, a lot of whom did not choose, or want, to be contractors, in the first place.
I have to say though, it does not just happen on here, people just want to be spoon fed these days.
I get just that on the technical forums, also. The Chunt of Chunts.Comment

We were talking this morning about cycling forums where geeks love to post endless pedantry stuff. It gets them off. Why should contracting be any different?
If you don't like it then why not IGNORE it?
Perhaps my only concern is that advice here is not paid for. So it might be totally wrong.Comment

Try creating an account on mumsnet and ask something like 'Im going to be a new mother, can anyone tell me how to do it please?' and watch that lot rip them a new one......Originally posted by MrMarkyMark View PostI have to say though, it does not just happen on here, people just want to be spoon fed these days.

ASB and Contreras, thanks for your helpful replies. Exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I do have an accountant but it find it helpful to validate from all your veterans
I will also call up HMRC helpline and hoping to find it useful.
I have not yet taken money out of the company simply because my income from permanent job meant that I have met my tax threshold. I will be taking dividends shortly.
Contreras, thanks for info regarding CT41 and other info - wasnt aware of them but will Google and speak to my accountant. CT620 is what I was looking. Cheers
Once again thanks, just to summarise
I do not intend to buy time to pay corporation tax and niether to I want to change my ARD. My company was incorporated on 10th May 2015 and all i wanted to know is
1. What is the "earliest" date I can pay corporation tax?
2. Do I have to submit two CT600, (10th May 15 - 9th May 16, 10th May 16- 31st May 16)
3. If I get an ack back - which I now understand is CT620
yMyjgT - Thanks and totally agree.Comment

Today - you can pay your tax bill before it's due and you will get interest from HMRC on that money.Originally posted by metallica View Post1. What is the "earliest" date I can pay corporation tax?
CT600 is filed annually.Originally posted by metallica View Post2. Do I have to submit two CT600, (10th May 15 - 9th May 16, 10th May 16- 31st May 16)Comment

Have you setup the online services? The easiest thing is to log on to there and it'll show you the dates for returns and what you owe. I've always got an acknowledgement with the required payment in the post a few weeks after submitting the CT600 PDF.
Most people here just sign whatever their accountants put in front of them with no idea what it is, so don't take it too personally. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment
