If any company is limited check that you can get the director(s) home address details from Companies House. Also do a search on the director's name to see how many current and previous companies they are linked with. There are various services on the web that show these links for free.
It is also your personally need to take responsibility to confirm anything an accountant says is legal. Thanks to the web this isn't hard to do if you do a bit of reading.
Finally if your accountant asks you to do something which seems illogical e.g. pay money to HMRC to them instead of directly to HMRC find one of the many small business/accountancy forums search them and ask whether this is normal."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment
