Thanks DR. That was my understanding but their letter says different. I'll give them a call.

Just got another APN warning letter. This time saying "I regret that the letter issued on 31 March 2015 had incorrect wording so I enclose the correct version......."

Comparing both letters the first one uses the words "about the tax avoidance scheme the partnership has used" and the corrected one says "about the tax avoidance scheme that you have used"

      FFS !!!

One assumes to re issue it - it must be of some relevance ...... does that mean they have to reissue them all again and a new 90 days starts ? or have you not had any actual APNs and is it a precursor that a APN warning must come out before the real deal?

Haven't had any APNs yet. Looks like an error on their part and for whatever reason they have spotted it and reissued the letter.

How many more are like this?

I bought my CTD in 2010 but it has a date of deposit of 2009. The letter says "Interest on your deposit is calculated on a daily bases. This period of interest will not exceed 6 years. It will run from the Certificate date until the earlier of:
              • the due date of the tax liability it is being paid against
              • the date on which the deposit is withdrawn for cash
              • the sixth anniversary of the date on your certificate"
Is this right? I didn't specify any liability when I bought the CTD.

Note the spelling error 'bases' was theirs not mine!.
When I 'bought' my CTD, they wrote to ask me which tax debt or dispute I wanted the CTD to be recorded against. I read in one of these threads not to tell them what the 'debt' was so wrote and told them Im not disclosing that (at that time).

Didnt they do this to you? If you didnt tell them which tax debt the CTD was for, it isnt against any liability they officially have.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

I bought four at different times and they never asked me ...and moved house so wrote giving new address to CTDS peeps - so another oportunity for them to open a dialog

my understaning is that when you place it against a liability that is when they re work any interst taking it into acocount

I received my 6 year notice on my CTD a month or so ago and left it hoping things will come to a head soon after close to a decade. I don't ever recall being asked about the liability and what to offset. From what I recall, I just paid via BACS and sent a letter to them to request a CTD. In reply they sent me back a wonky printed certificate which I have stored in a safe place.

If I need to tell them the official liability then I am well and truly screwed - I am north of 150k and the interest will kill me.

                    after they received their letter?

                    Thanks
