Have you got a legal notice from them or have you got an email/letter threatening it. There is a huge difference. If they are just threatening it then just ignore it. Nothing you can do (not that you have done anything wrong anyway) and let them go pay for a solicitor to send you an official letter. At that point you can take some notice but it won't happen. Ignore it and move on.

The difference being the contractor wouldn't have lost any money whereas the client and agency both have done.
I remember few years ago, a colleague gave notice for a new contract role. On Fiday he recived an e-mail from the agent that project has been delayed and therefore he will not be required on Monday.
He had terminated existing contract with nowhere to go, no compensation from agency, took him 4 weeks get another role. After threatening legal action, he got 1 weeks compensation.
So as the others have stated, as long as you comply with terms of the contract, they have no legal recourse!Comment

So, finally, they have sent me a legal notice claiming 14 days worth of margin + interest. They were making 6£ per hour margin x 7.5 hours per day x 14 days.

After that if they want to go to court you don't need a solicitor. However make sure you turn up to contest it otherwise they will get a CCJ against you by default. Oh and they will have to attend your local court for the hearing.
