Letter from revenue "check of your self assessment"

Received on of these letters from Revenue P14 team pointing out a discrepancy between SA figure and that provided by my employer (own Ltd). They are 100% right! it was a mistake made by my accountant where a tax refund was recorded as a tax payment. I signed it so take responsibility for it. That's not my query.

Anyone else had this type of check and did it lead anywhere else once the initial enquiry was dealt with?

Even if it's down to a simple error, if you have IPSE membership inform them and your accountant now. Let them deal with it.

Yes, I didn't want to appear alarmist. It sounds like a simple error and nothing further will happen. But in case HMRC decide to go sniffing IPSE and/or your accountant should be able to shut that down pretty quickly.

It is also probably mandatory to endure any insurance policy is valid as ASB says.

We sometimes receive these notices for clients who prefer to file the returns themselves, it is very rare that any penalties or interest are applied providing you respond by the deadline given on the letter.
