Jeremy Corbyn claims no one is interested in core subjects | Daily Mail Online

It's a good strategy, the thicker the kids are the more likely they'll grow up to vote Labour.
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

Kids may not be interested in English and maths however to become useful citizens it is kind of a basic requirement.

Also Corbyn says we (as in adults) are not interested in maths and English I would imagine the millions of people who do crosswords, sudoko and different other puzzles for fun may argue with that vapid, hipster, I'm down with the kids bullshoot.

Sudoku is neither maths not English. It just happens to use numbers as a set of symbols.

Interesting lies from the Daily Mail.

            From URL:

            Jeremy-Corbyn-claims-no-one-interested-core-subjects.html
            From headline:

'Nobody's interested in English, Maths and Science'
            From intro to article:

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has claimed people are not interested in core school subjects such as English ,Maths and Science, branding them as 'Michael Gove's Victorian theory of education'.
From Mail's report of Corbyn's words.

During his talk, Corbyn said: 'Don't believe in Michael Gove Victorian theory of education that only English, Maths and Science matter. Nobody here is only interested in those three subjects, so why should our children be?'
The word 'only' is important. Corbyn is saying there should be a more rounded curriculum as interests extend to other subjects (history would be an example). Nowhere does Corbyn say that nobody is interested in core subjects.

But no doubt this will be beyond the English comprehension skills of the Mail's readership.

If people studied subjects like history, art, geography, philosophy etc with English, Maths and Science they would start thinking for themselves - and then they won't be relied on to vote Tory....

An excellent example of how media mislead people by misrepresenting what was actually said in order to create headlines that fit their own agenda.

You were mislead into believing that Corbyn actually said this - when he said no such thing. Please read beyond the headlines and make up your own mind.
