Responsible tax for the common good
-
I can read it
Basically Margaret Hodge is to head a new cross party group focusing on 'responsible taxation'. She wants "parliament to play a key role in building and maintaining the fair, sustainable and transparent tax system that's needed to create growth and prosperity in the UK" The Group she's heading will be 'scrutinising tax reliefs'. The group she's heading was announced at a meeting of a 'responsible tax for the common good' project.
I could cut and paste the whole article but it comes up with a big notice telling you not to

At least she's not responsible for children's homes, so there is some good in the worldSocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

Will that be the same Margaret Hodge MP who was found to be claiming dodgy expenses and tax relief through a limited co which she was the director of?Comment

Isn't that enoughOriginally posted by vetran View Postso apart from Hodge being involved what should we be scared of?
She says in the article that the issue of who pays tax and how much they pay has really struck a chord with the Public - translated as the Government can now give themselves carte blanch to tulip about with the tax system without fear of a backlash from the voters. The fact that the group will be looking at tax reliefs would not suggest to me that they are planning more of them.

They should use me as a tax benchmark. Anyone earning more than me, 99% tax rate. Soak the rich.
Anyone earning what I earn or less, 1% tax rate. Let's reward hard working families!
This strikes a chord with me in terms of fairness all round.

yeah but they had a tax allowance of £10,600 taxing everyone above £5000 that is going to be a bit much. It might pay for Corbyn's intentions though.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostThey should use me as a tax benchmark. Anyone earning more than me, 99% tax rate. Soak the rich.
