Yes i think you have to be made redundant/laid off for JSA but I wonderd if there was some kind of income support for directors if the company was making below a set amount.

AFAIK contributions JSA doesn't look at your savings. But if you have savings and you're trying to claim a benefit that does take those into account, then you really are thieving git. hth

You have to read the website a little more carefully.

Contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance is £60.50 a week and is regardless of savings (and I know 'cos I had to claim after being made redundant before I started contracting).

Income based is different and that is where the paragraph relating to the savings is relevant.

Thanks, managed to get through to the Job office and its as your've just said... but she said it would be contribution based becuase of the director of LTD, and then asked about savings at 16,000, so not sure how it works. if you have a familar then you can claim income support (if partner works less than 25hrs, i dont get the less 25hrs you would think the calc dependent on income...)
