    Registering for PAYE

    Hi all,

I've set up a company and intending to pay myself a salary below the NI LEL Do I have to register for PAYE with HMRC in order to complete a P11D for me as the sole director? I've looked at a few posts on the subject and also HMRC website, best links below, but can't find anything concrete.

Assume I have to complete the P14 and P35 even if only completing a P11D?

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure you do have to register and you just file nil returns for PAYE.

Most people here recommend that you get an accountant, you are going to need on at the year end anyway and not having one may be a false economy because it can cost you a lot of money if you don't structure your business correctly or you get fined for messing it up.

At least get an accountant for your first year to get everything up and running and then think about going it alone...

My accountant did all this for me, however I seem to recall that you need a paye number in order to complete a p11d.

Ask your accountant, or should I say, get an accountant, its not worth the bother trying to do it yourself.

People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." Cicero

Quick and short answer is that yes you do. Also payroll is changing with the introduction of RTI so speak to your accountant about that. There are some great posts on here about RTI too.
