    Monitor agency caps (NHS)

Hi, newbie here, search didn't bring up anything on the topic of Monitor agency caps. Anyone else running into these/wants to discuss/moan/point and laugh at agencies who want someone who can walk on water, in London, for £170/day (by the time they've taken their cut off the cap rate)?

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about and is curious, official line can be found by searching gov.uk website for "rules-for-all-agency-staff-working-in-the-nhs" - don't want to put in link as a newbie, you might think I'm sending you somewhere naughty. For anyone who can't be bothered to read all that: everyone* got in a tizz because Evil Nurses worked out that they could get better money as temps than as substantive employees, how very dare they, they should feel privileged to be spat on, sworn at, stay late for 2 h because someone else called in sick, and then have to go and work for someone else because the commissioners changed provider (TUPE), etc /rant. Govt agreed and said no contractor should be paid more than 30% (IIRC, not wading through all that again like I did last year) more than a substantive member of staff. Result: NHS already struggling to hire people like me on a 1/3 of the rate paid in other sectors.

I'm in Information Governance by the way - so already second cousin to the Antichrist (apparently), thought I might as well be a contractor too.
