USB sticks vs Memory cards+USB readers

My collection of USB flash drives is getting old and I am in the process of buying a few replacements. I carry them with me all the time and I give them a hard time.

For the purpose of durability and reliability, am I better off with USB sticks or memory cards? I could still use USB readers to plug them in PCs with no memory card reader.

    Your opinions.
<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!

SafeXS memory sticks. Hardware encryption etc.

Not cheap but a requirement of client co.
