    Password Recovery Windows 2008 R2

    Hi Techies,

I have a windows 2008 R2 and for the life of me I do not recall what the password is to log on to the machine.

I also do not have the installation disks either. How can gain access to my unit. Trying hard not to go down the rebuild route. What suggestions or options do I have. Help please.

    No Repair, no Install

If you haven't got the installation disks how are you going to do a rebuild? ....

Yes there are ways and prices, Google for it !

Recovery Method depends on whether you've got physical, interactive or network access to system.

Often, with older versions of Windows you can restart your computer in Safe Mode (usually by pressing F8 while it boots up). Once in safe mode, on the login page there will be your user (the locked one) and also a default 'administrator' account. If you log in using the admin account, you can navigate to control panel and turn off the password requirement for your user account.

      Hope this helps!

You used to be able to use a Linux Boot CD to reset admin passwords to blank
I'm not sure if they still work

This one works well for resetting admin passwords. We've used it at work several times to get into locked servers and workstations. It takes a matter of seconds to wipe the admin password so you can get back into the system.
