I keep getting intermittent problems with accessing certain website - in the past it's been:
hsbc.co.uk
ba.com
Today it's wpengine.zendesk.com.
Browser just times out. I know the sites are up & reachable - if I VPN into another network and retry, it works fine. Traceroute from home starts to timeout at a certain point; traceroute from other network completes fine.
So, it appears that my public IP is blacklisted - I checked on a blacklist site. ISP is BT, and even getting a new public IP doesn't fix it - they are all blacklisted (tried around 10).
I guess it's my own fault for selling my soul (aka signing up for a cheap broadband/tv/phone package).
Can't see BT interested in fixing it. So, other than using the VPN workaround (bit of a pain as I have to use another laptop), I wonder what else I could do? Use a proxy service or TOR ?
Or try and break my BT contract under some term and sign up with a decent ISP. Of course, that'll mean I miss out on Jake Humphrey and his "free" football next season !
