    Firefox 6 released

Crikey, that was quick - I haven't even got around to upgrading to FF4 yet
Less than 2 months later, we have Firefox 6. Soon after I fired up Firefox this morning, it started downloading.

It moaned that the Java Console Extension is incompatible, and disabled it. I don't work with Java myself and I haven't a clue how that got there in the first place anyway.

    Goodies for developers, apparently

Mozilla's third major Firefox release of 2011 offers improvements to performance, security and stability, but it is perhaps web developers that will be most happy with Firefox 6. Mozilla has added support for more HTML5 elements such as progress and tracking, introducing Server Sent Events while bringing back Websockets.

    Mozilla to drop version numbers?

Firefox 5 users will be prompted to update to Firefox 6, and while there is very little to visually distinguish Firefox 5 from Firefox 6, users will be urged to upgrade. Earlier Mozilla said it was mulling a move to remove version numbers altogether from Firefox's About dialogue box, but Firefox 6 still proudly displays its vintage.
Well, sort of. The prompt I got was just to update, not mentioning the version number. I had to go into About to see that it was iindeed 6.0

The best upgrade of Firefox I did was to install Chrome.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it
Feist - I Feel It All

Is there an equivalent of NoScript with Chrome?

        NoIdea. I'm not that paranoid.

Though I use a VM sandbox for any potentially dodgy browsing, and to keep my main browser history clean.

I upgraded last night and the upgrade box did say 6. 10 minutes later it crashed when I tried to refresh a page

That'll be fixed in version 7.

And today its window keeps disappearing and won't come back.

Well, unless you count a new window with all the open tabs gone.

                  Fail!
