Downloading TomTom Maps

I need to downnload a TomTom europe map and am not sure how I go about actually transferring to the TomTom unit. Am probably being a bit slow here but can anyone please advise how this is done ?

Do you have the TomTom software (think it's called Home) installed? It's a free download from the TomTom site.

That should save the map to the correct directory automatically I'd have thought. I assume you have a USB connection for your device and the rest is simples.
