    this is it, I often skip reboot and am still able to use the app - it's sheer laziness most of the time!

      I've done it myself once or twice to fix a fault and I've not had to restart after windows reinstalled the device drivers.

        me neither but have seen so many apps install with no reboot that when you come across one you think 'oh for f*cks sake!'
