Could anyone recommend library cataloguing software?
I am currently cataloguing my books but I would also like to generate an order of plastic sleeves for paperback editions. The sleeves (eg Ryco Clearshield, KPC Book wallets ...) have to be ordered by height. I'm not sure yet what sort of protection product I'll use for the hardbacks.
It's quite a slog typing the details and dimensions of books into a spreadsheet and I'm thinking "there must be a better way to do this".
Does anyone know of any library software which will catalogue books from the barcode by web look up, also look up the book dimensions (height, width, spine) and optionally produce the spine labels ?
If I can't beg, borrow or buy a barcode scanner (benched just now), then at least typing in the barcode will be quicker than typing in all the information.
It's for several hundred books, not a massive library so I don't need a professional package like Ex Libris Aleph or anything expensive.
I used to buy the sleeves with the books at the bookseller I used, but they stopped stocking them, which is a nuisance.
