Look you're obviously a mental midget with the IQ of a fence post, we're all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view but please go and get laid or something and release some of that pent up agression ??

Moving from Desktop/Server to Network

Perhaps I should use my ironic smilies more often. My advice was serious, the quickest route out of desktops and into networks is to go permie for a couple of years. You might find an agent who would consider putting you forward for a junior network role at a lower rate, but then you may get stuck on the low-rate ladder. Don't say I didn't warn you...His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...Comment

You need to decide on the specifics: will it be network support, network design, security, VoIP, QoS or what? You need to master one field and one field only. For that reason consider niches or alternatives e.g. Juniper rather than Cisco (or preferably both).
You'll normally need several 'quality' years in a traditional permanent role before you go contracting - although you might be able to bypass all that by going into business in your own right; the caveat being long hours of work and ongoing study and significant responsibility.Comment
