    VoIP + video

    OK, here is the deal.

I work in Germany, my family is in the UK, and although msn voice calling works between us video calling doesn't. I think this is because my ISPs here (O2 or vodafone mobile networks) block it.

I do however have a functional VPN setup between here and there. Does anyone know of anything free (or very cheap) that I can run entirely on my own network to facilitate video calling? I presume I would need some sort of SIP based server and then client software similar to skype, msn etc that could be configured to use my private server rather than a public one, but I'm not having any luck finding something. If it could also support transit traffic from here to the uk PSTN that would be even better as I'd be able to call 0845 / 0800 numbers from here.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

There are a few simple video conferencing apps out there - below are both free for 1 to 1 calls by looks of it.

Could also consider an asterisk PBX if you want to get a bit more nerdy:

There is something that scientists/researchers are developing and it's free. Can't remember the name atm

Thanks for the pointers, I was aware of asterisk but I didn't know it supported video calls, I'll look into it.
