Twice this week I've had two pcs (both neighbours) with viruses. Both were running AVG free, and it was up to date. AVG missed a virus called "security tool", and another similar one. The kind of virus where the vendor provides the virus and the solution, and fakes a web page that looks like it is scanning your system and finding loads of trojans.

I have done some surfing around "AVG missed virus" and there are quite a few posts in their forums from both free and paid for clients saying that AVG missed stuff.

The solution of choice at the minute seems to be to install "Malware Bytes" and this most certainly does the job. The thing is, AVG used to be everyones fav free AV program, but of late it seems to be slipping down in people's estimations.

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
