Spoke to Orange yesterday who said still no release date and why not go to Carphone Warehouse who could do the upgrade for me. So wandered down there just now only to be told that they could not do it as it was a business account. Bah! Phoned up Orange and said I was about to leave them as they were just rubbish in terms of getting the phone out later than the other networks. They told me it was now available on their system but was a £99.99 upgrade. Explained in great details their failures so got put through to the business retention team and now have it as a free upgrade, being delivered tomorrow

Just found out there is an Android app for iPlayer called Beebplayer.

Currently listening to last week's Dr Who over 3G.

      Lurvely.

I've heard that due to the Orange/T-mobile merger, T-mobile are going all out to build up a huge customer base. This is apparent when you compare T-mobiles contract for the HTC Desire against the competitors (also Orange..)

I think T-mobile have a £25pm 10month - miles better than the other networks contracts (IMO)

So, I think it's worth considering T-mobile or haggling like billyo with all other providers.

Alas I have to wait until July for my upgrade, Phah!

          Mine should be delivered tomorrow.

I didn't want to get stuck with a faltering phone again (after 12 months of abuse) and T-Mob weren't offering any decent deals at the time.

I've gone with the sim only and bought the phone outright, it works out cheaper for me.

This time next year the market will have settled down somewhat and the android phones may have some more choice.

The problem is that most phone providers are only offering a minimum 18 months, which is a hell of a tie in when your phone gives up the ghost after 12.

              arrggh! now you tell me.

I see how it goes for this year with the desire.

I just have to make sure Mr Norr keeps his hands off it (he has the htc touch)

Can you be more specific, AVI isn't a single file format but dependent on what codecs are supported isn't it? Did you mean DivX doesn't work?

I meant that the file that I tried to play (which has an .avi extension) didn't play. I have no idea what it was encoded with (whether DivX or Xvid or anything else), but there is no file association for a .avi file (whereas .mp4 is associated with the movie player).

I would suggest that there are no codecs for DivX or Xvid, but I don't know.

I was most impressed that when I typed SKA the keyboard correctly identified the technology for me and offered 'DOS' as a suggestion.

Guess HTC know more than we do about the technology behind the worlds favourite non-functioning search engine.....
