    Dell Precision M4500

For those of you who have the M4400 and are thinking of an upgrade, you may be pleased to know that the M4500 comes out early March and according to the Dell guy I was sat on the train next to, it has a far superior processor and is a noticeable upgrade to the M4400..

Can't find any details on it on the web but his release powerpoint slide that he got from the dell network definately said scheduled release "early March 2010"

I'm really impressed with the Precision Laptops. Great spec, superb screens (1900x1200 15.4" on mine) and well built.

I've got the older M65 (2.1Ghz dual core 4gb Ram (3.5gb useable) and Nvidia gpu)

Was thinking about upgrading this year but after installing Windows 7 I'm going to wait another couple of years.
Two and a half years of ownership and the performance has never let me down!

Only gripe so far has been how the heat sink area gets clogged with dust but thats probably my fault for leaving the laptop on the duvet when watching videos in bed. Cleaning it out is a 30 minute job once every 6 months.

Lenovo have an absolute beast of a laptop coming out soon as well in the 15.4" screen size variety.

Dell already have i7s in some of their Studio laptops, so presumably that's what the Precisions will be getting.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

I shudder to think what might be clogging the insides of that machine

I like the look of the Lenovo tablet that's coming out - laptop with a removable screen that runs Linux and syncs between the two.

$999, so probably £999 when it ships.

Nothing now, it's been cleaned out twice since I had some heat problems

This was the view when I first opened it up:

Dell replaced the mother board and graphics card recently. I was occasionally getting some problems due to having "fried" the internals!
