Laptop - woth repair or bin?

    Guys,
Got two faults on my laptop,

    1. the screen is black for about 1/4 of ths display - so I'm guessing a new screen is required.

    2. The laptop doesn't always charge, I've changed the charger but get the same problem - new power pack?

I've been quoted £180 for the above repairs - does that seem reasonable or not?

    Thanks for any guidence.

Is your laptop getting on a bit now? If so it sounds like a good opportunity for an upgrade - you can get a lot for your money these days.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

            2. sounds like you might need a new battery... they tend to get a bit flakey after a couple of years

£180 sounds reasonable... but then how old and what spec is your laptop?
How much would it cost you to get something similar today?

we need figures before we can decide whether £180 is worth it.

Processor, max memory, HD size etc also how old is it?
