    ipod speaker whatsit

Please bear with me cos I have no idea what I am on about. Ahem.

I bought an ipod speaker unit, and I think I've managed to break the silver whatsit that the ipod actually docks into. The unit was quite expensive and I want to fix it, but is it fixable? And if so, how? Can you buy replacement silver docky sticky in bits? Is that their actual name?

Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

Throw it in the bin and report it as stolen to your insurance company and get them to buy you a new one.

      No!

It is sitting in my spare room IRRITATING me as I know it is probably so easily fixed.

Sounds like you are talking about the connector inside an iPod dock.

What brand is the dock unit?

Have a look at Mac, iPod, and iPhone Repair.

It's a Logitech one. Yes, it's the silver bit that clicks into the ipod, I think that's come loose. That website doesn't seem to cover that really, but I've sent them a email - thanks!

I've used Logitech support before and they are very good so I'm sure they will sort it out for you.

Sorry Sysman, the connector was what I originally meant, it seems. Also, it's not Logitech, I have no idea why I put that. It's iRhythms, duh.

Set it all back up and when I docked the ipod in, I wedged it slightly forward - works, but probably not ideal.

Will search for a replacement docking bit, as wedging the ipod with a breastpad is probably not the most technologically advanced idea I've ever had.

I'm not knocking the idea. A long dead cigarette lighter is used to wedge the ethernet connection into my old laptop at an angle to get a reliable connection.
