    Editing the registry

I have a desktop that upon boot up states that the file "msodisup.vxd" is missing. When I press any key it gets past this, boots up as normal and works OK. I have found online that, under these circumstances, if I delete this from the registry things should be OK.

Not being used to delving into the OS of a PC, how do I delete this from the registry? What should I be weary of when doing this?

    Thanks in advance.

depends what 'this' is. Backup the registry, search for all instances of that string and delete.

You'll be fine. The registry is not that mysterious a place...

      Older and ...well, just older!!

"This" is a message mentioning the missing .vxd file.

          Update

Backed up the registry and "dived in"!! Deleted the ".vsd" entry and saved the registry. It all boots up perfectly now!!

          Thanks for your help!
