Don't hold your breath on freeby upgrades from any Vista version. As to putting the cost through the books I don't see why not since it's for a business critical asset.

well, £100 i can nearly justify the cost of Technet which would give me sharepoint and loads of other useful stuff for £250 more...

        Might be my way forward!

Been using Win 7 since the early leaked alpha builds, and even those 'felt' better than Vista.

Scooby is right, though, for just a little bit more you can sign up to Technet and then get all the Win 7 versions, as well as Office, Win Server, Sharepoint etc. etc. etc.

Or you can sign up as a partner (free) and order the Action Pack - £199 for 10 licenses of Vista Business (soon to be Win 7), 1 Ultimate license, 1 Exchange Server, 10 Office 2007 Enterprise, 1 Server 2003, 1 Server 2008, 1 windows Home Server and some other stuff I have no interest in (like sharepoint, MS Dynamics CRM, etc)..

Yeah, I had the Action Pack but they kept sending me CDs which I really had no interest in! Technet, on the other hand, seemed to be more relevant to what I was after. Horses for courses I guess

You mean you're not on the MS partner program or have a MSDN sub?
If you're a real business and it's a business PC then of course... if it's your home PC you sometimes check work emails on then maybe not

Indeed - but the new subs are digital only unless you pay an extra £74 for the physical media..

Dude, I'm a PM. i dont do development. I thought you needed an app or the like to get partnership? what do you actually get from partnership?

None of the MSDN or technet can apparently be used in live environments...
