Because there's no guarantee that they will expire.

Ars Technica are reporting that Microsoft are now offering a free subscription to TechNet Plus until the end of September - might come in handy for some.

Can't seem to access license keys on that site anymore - think M$ have got wise?

Keep trying. I couldn't get the page to load any keys to begin with but they're working now.

I can't get download keys for Office and can't help but think this is either a bit dodgy or the software will expire.

I've no problems getting the subscription...but like everyone else. problems getting the keys.

I managed to get keys to Office now, just not sure what the catch is and whether it is worth downloading the product.

The catch is, in September they'll start hassling us trying to get us to sign up for paid subscriptions. Which is why I expect these product keys to expire then.
