    New TV

So I'm looking at getting a new TV, but cant see anywhere out there that gives real dimensions of a set. IE if I buy a 42inch tv, just how big is that? 30 inches wide? 35?

    Anybody any ideas or links?

The official specs from the product description on the manufacturer site for a given model should provide that information I would've thought? I'm pretty sure I got the dimensions for my plasma from the Pioneer site.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

agreed for a particular model, but I was after something more general. The reason for asking is that I have a limited space to fit the tv in and wanted to get the biggest I could for that size.

I don't think there is anything more "general". I had to go out with a tape measure in the end and measure the TVs physically. It was a toss up between a 26" Sony and a 26" Panasonic, with the Panasonic being about 4" narrower overall than the Sony due to having the speakers located under the screen.

As Svalbaard says there can be a lot of variation in absolute width at a given screen size - some T.V.s have quite a wide surrounding bezel, while other don't.

Thanks for that chaps. In the end I took a tape measure to Richer Sounds.
