Windows XP - ERROR EVENT ID 7011

At startup my (standalone) PC at home hangs for a while within Internet Explorer due to the following:

    Event ID: 7011
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the stisvc service.

I have tried setting the windows media acquistion service to manual but that did not make any difference.

I read somewhere on the net it may have to do with a policy setting.

Does anyone have experience of this problem and what to do about it?

Probably related to downloading too much porn.

No I do not think it is related

Problem posibly started after temporarly installing Windows Media Centre (since removed) or could also be related to Adobe Elements 3.0

I have an HP G85 Officejet and it could be related to the driver (HP has ceased support)

        Third line support

This is starting to remind me of when I used to do third-line tech support

round the houses, 400 responses from first and second line but no fix.

stisvc is the still image service:
          http://www.liutilities.com/products/...ibrary/stisvc/
          http://www.auditmypc.com/process/stisvc.asp

sounds like you have some problems with a peripheral attached to the PC. try removing any cameras etc and stopping the service and see if your PC works properly. then restart it and reattach the devices.

Thanks LadyMuck for the excellent incite and internet references.

The references you have provided have given me some ideas and also tweak up the security on my system.

The only external device I have connected is the HP G85 (Printer, scanner, fax combo) e.g. no camera's.

Sometime over the weekend I will disconnect the USB connected HP G85 printer and re-boot to see if that isolates the problem.

( I am busy doing a rushjob on a job application)

If it is the HP G85 then I suppose I will be stuffed as they are not offering any new drivers.

I will let you know how it goes and thanks very much for your help.
