    Website

I did a simple personal website ages ago having learnt a bit of HTML from a book - things appear to have moved on a bit, but I want to do my own simple site to hawk my outfit on the web. My domain is registered with 1&1 and I have the space and can ftp my site up there. Although I'm considering a blog, I'll probably just sign up with blogger.com for that - otherwise it's info only, not database stuff, boards etc. I am not trying to showcase web dev skills as I don't really have any.

I dislike the 1&1 templates as they all have a picture (and they are all naff) at the top - all I want is a simple menu structure to navigate around 4/5 pages describing what I do, why and how it might benefit clientco. I looked at templatemonster but these all seem to be paid for.

Enough rambling - what's anyone else done?

In the old days I used just do "view source" and steal the code of sites I liked, it all seems to have moved on a bit these days.

Okay, so I have downloaded a template from www.oswd.org.

To ask a very basic question, how do I edit this - I presume I need a dreamweaver type package and some sort of idea of what to do ?

No need for anything like dreamweaver..although tools like that can sometimes help. All you really need is a text editor..downloadable templates are after all just html and css text files. You need to know basic html and maybe a bit of css if you want to tweak it a bit.
