It was about 2 months ago. Just looked on Tesco and they don't appear to stock it anymore. There was a Blu-ray version on Currys for a while at a couple of hundred more but as I have no intention of shelling out on my entire film collection when there is nowt wrong with DVD I got the Tesco one then upgraded via eBay.

Blu-ray, pah, who wants to see actors spots.

EDIT: I'm a bit sad so the only game I'm really playing on it is Oblivion which is smooth as silk with all detail levels high.

I bought an Intel 5750 with 2GB ram version but made sure I had the 8600M GT graphics card as you can't replace it, they've gon back to being soldered on these days. Then bought an intel T9300 and use RMClock to down volt it which is safe and adds to battery life. The cooling effect it has allows you to run the graphics hotter as well so overclock the graphics card by 20% using rivatuner.

Sorry, should have said I'm reaaally sad

I'm currently looking at a 4gb thinkpad sl500, 15" with 1680x1050 resolution. Will no doubt be crap for newer games but I think it will be an adequate machine for development (running virtual machines/visual studio.net) and it's not too badly priced for a laptop with that resolution.

I bought a Lenovo W500 the other day. Still have to use it - but I expect it to be great. It has "switchable graphics" which mean you can preserve power by running on-board graphics or you can get nice performance by switching to the dedicated graphics card. Neat.

I've the 1750 as well and can recommend it as a good laptop, however recent experiences with Dell when things go wrong mean that I cannot recommend them at all.

I trashed mine recently, spilt a pint of coke over it

They arranged to replace the motherboard and keyboard on site (home) that didn’t work, so it went away for repair. It took them 2 weeks but came back virtually new. Only thing I would complain about is the offshore call centres....

Couldn't you get it out with a good vacuum cleaner?
