    Setting MS Office Username via AD

    Anyone know if there is an automated way to set the username so that it gets applied to all office documents to the name of the person who is logged in to the current profile?

    At the moment it's a manual process of each user going into Word and doing

    Tools | Options | User Information | Name

    And in Excel it's

    Tools | Options | General

    Anyone?

    Erm.. for Excel try using a combination of

    Application.UserName
    Environ$("Username")

    in a VBA module called Auto_Open and save it in the Personal Macro Workbook
    It's about time I changed this sig...

      Have you looked at the Office resource kit, you should be able to create a custom MST for install with the options in it.

      Potentially this could also be done with group policy if you have the ADM templates.
