    Mobile phone as a modem

Want to use my Nokia 6500 classic as a modem for my laptops.

    Laptop 1 - Dell D620 on XP
Laptop 2 - With the freeware Mozilla, not the XP version.

Has anyone got any ideas? Tried the *99# thing, Orange had 43 people ahead of my on second line support - given up with them!

I get free internet after 7pm, free all weekends, and only £1 a day when I want it on demand.

Arn't you better off these days just buying a 3G dongle for £10-£15 a month?

Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."

        Got the Dell sorted.

Starting to question why I got the Asus Eee and not an entry level Dell to be honest. The Nokia software works a treat on the Dell, but does not seem to like Linux.

I therefore need a way of using the phone as a modem on my Asus Eee using Linux.

Has anyone managed to do that?

Sorted - I now know exactly how to get a mobile used as a modem for the Asus Eee.

Basically, enter *99# in the number setting up as a dial-up connection - for Orange, enter 'user' and 'pass' in the user details (also advised it may work without entering any user details).

If anyone is looking to do this and struggling, drop me a PM.

My orange internet is free after 7pm and at weekends, so a perfect way to stay online at the bar after work
