    My pc is embuggered...

    Win 2k
    Says Isass.exe can't find cryptdll.dll and reboots.

    Endlessly.

Deep joy on a monday frigging morning with the dentist at 11...

Sounds bad, it'll be lsass.exe though not Isass (gotta love those ambiguous fonts )

Could be sasser worm - is you box patched + firewalled?

Repair might be possible using a repair install from CD.

I can't get it to go into safe mode even...

I survived the dentist & the two fillings by the way...

        Ho hum.

I've got a personal copy of Win2k update CD, would that do a repair.

When I stuck in in the CD & booted from it, it looked as if it wanted to do a full reinstall.

Download the dll, boot up with Win PE or Barts CD and attach a USB drive, copy over the DLL. Job Done...

Can you not even get to the login screen and stop the shutdown cycle?
Not even with f8 an start at a command prompt?

Yikes. I think you might be finished there.

If you continue with Win 2K install does it offer recovery option?

I have a feeling in my bones that its made it to your boot sector.

Hmm...Now if only there was a Linux Live CD distro that could read Windows partitions so you can overwrite the exe and dll...

Continued with the Win2k cd, it offered recovery & has successfully (so far) got me to a reasonably working system.

                  With all the drivers screwed.

I'm now attempting to run the CA <spit> virus & pest patrol thingy... assuming that it'll go this week.
