Web page not refreshing on Ctrl + F5

I know that the page content was updated yesterday, but I can only see what was there before the update, can't seem to refresh, any ideas?

Clear out your browser cache, and check if there's an option to reload web pages on every visit.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Can't find this option to reload (IE 6.0). Also I fear that others looking at the site won't have the knowledge to do this, but that's another problem.

tools -> options -> general tab -> temp internet settings panel -> settings button -> top panel displays the four settings for checking for new version
whats the lowest you can do this for?

The problem may be on the server, either with the way that you've updated content but not changed the expiry parameters sufficiently to trigger a refresh by the web server, or the web server (e.g. IIS) is caching the old page still.

Maybe reset the web server to clear it's cache or alter the page content by altering the container names. e.g. rename page or image names to include a number that is incremented each time you modify them, so any caching is automatically refreshed.

Do I need to reboot before changing this setting has any effect?

No, just close and re-open the browser.

Also are you viewing the site through a proxy?

Also you could look at doing something like this:

                http://particletree.com/notebook/aut...ascript-files/

Since you are versioning the files they will be reloaded when you put the new one up as it cannot be cached since it doesn't exist. You have to make sure that you version your files properly if you go down this route though.

It may well be a probem with the server, as Ctrl + F5 is now working as I'd expect, ho hum.

I like the look of that - MrsF's website has loads of static images on it (which it needs because of the nature of the site) that I want to force into the cache.
