"Clear History" in IE6 very slow..?

    Hello,

I use IE6 on XP Pro, SP2. Whenever I "Clear History", it seems to take a long time, upwards of 8 seconds, even if no web pages were visited.

I was wondering if there was a file somewhere that should be cleared/resized, but isn't, and is now getting larger. Or if there's some registry entry that needs correcting. Can anyone help or advise?

    Thanks in advance

Clear History does not seem to work fully and properly with IE and XP. A particular security hole is that if you have user account A and user account B. When user account B opens up web mail eg yahoo and opens up a gif, jpeg etc using the navigation in Windows Fax an Picture Viewer; the user can then access the cache of both user A and B.

At the work place this leaves it open users obtaining information including passwords from other users.

When you delete the cache, MS seems to get confused over which user owns the cache often leaving some cache history undeleted.

XP should not be used a secure system.

        Hi Paddy,

Thank you for kindly taking the time to post up a reply to my enquiry. There was indeed more than one previous user account on the machine, I thought I'd cleared all of these account caches but I will recheck.

        Cheers
