    Vmware .VMX configuration file corrupted

I've just powered on a VM. It crashed and caused the PC reboot. As a result of this the VMX now contains all hex zeroes.

Any ideas how I can recreate it, can;t find anything on VMWARE. Sifting through google hits at the moment but nothing obvious.

The backup seems to be in the same state. Oops.

Best thing to do is to just create another fresh virtual machine, then attach the existing disk files to it and away you go.

You can then delete the old VM with the nailed config.

I have managed to get hold of a different copy of the VMX, so this at least lets me know the devices etc that are configured. A combination of this and a new VM based on the old drives should get me going again pdq. Thanks.
