Quickest, easiest and cheapest way to add a monitor

Assuming I have the monitor I want to add, what do I need to get an extra port onto the PC to add the monitor into? New graphics card? usb adapter? graphics card adapter?

would prefer not usb as I'm pretty sure all usb ports are used already and don't want to have to buy another adapter for that...

It was just the out of the box one from dell about a year and a half ago.

Add a graphics card with dual outputs, usually one VGA and one DVI, though you can get a DVI->VGA adapter if neither monitor has DVI input.

I chose to upgrade my existing monitor for a bigger one (24" seeing as they're relatively cheap now) rather than have two seperate monitors. I could always add another one later if I was greedy!

I've got the 7600GS and I'd say it is a good card, obviously not all that powerful but still fits the bill for most modern games. The best thing about it is the fact it's passively cooled (so silent).

I also picked up a ati 9250 card for 20 odd quid, passively cooled aswell, no idea on 3d performance though - probably crap. Works fine with 2 screens though.
