    Memory Stick File Missing!!

    Hi guys,

Got myself an 8GB Pen Drive. Seems good and okay. So what I did was to move all my files and folders from my 256MB Pen Drive to my New 8GB Pen Drive. All seems well. But what I have noticed is that when I create new Folders on the New Pen Drive and put files in them, it saves it. But when I now take off the Pen Drive and later put it back in to the same pc or another pc. The New Folder will still be there but all the NEWLY placed file in these folders have all vanishied. The folder is still there but no content any more. This is really strange as I can not determine why this is happening. This has happened all the time I Made a new Folder and put content in them. The content I put in these folders are PDF docs, Word Docs and some Programmes too.

I looked at the filling systerm of all the other smaller Pen Drive I have, I can see that they are all in FAT format but this very NEW 8GB pen DRIVE I have is FAT32 and I woundered if I need to change this to FAT only format as this my be where the problem is, but then again it may not be the PROBLEM either. I really need some help here people.

    Thanks alot all!!

    WIN2K?

WIN2K doesn't reliably save files unless you disconnect the USB drive before you yank it out (XP does usually).

You should probably right click on the "safely remove hardware" icon before removing, rather than just pulling it out. If you RTFM it will probably tell you to do that too.

Agreed, but this happened to me on an XP machine once.

Had to go back home to get the file from my PC as it was urgent.

        Lesson learned.

As I said XP does usually. I have had it go wrong on me a couple of times too

Did you buy it off eBay? If so you may have bought a fake that doesn't actually have 8Gb in it.

Just a guess, but perhaps by putting 8Gb onto it and seeing if it fits?
