Had a look into this & found that firewire 400\800 connections are different, so it shouldn't be too tricky to work out if my imac has 800 or not (I don't think it does). -

I'm happy with my value-for-money Western Digital 500GB drive.Originally posted by Spoiler View PostAnyone used Time Machine yet?
I need to get an external hard disk first - any recommendations?
To be sure about Firewire, open Utilities>System profiler and click Firewire on the left-hand side. (under hardware)Comment

Upgraded to Leopard yesterday. Upgrade went smoothly but it seemed to break a few things and turn off several options that were defaults on Tiger.
Biggest issue was that I can no-longer browse my windows network from the finder. Not sure is this is a real bug of a configuration issue but I'm starting to think it;s a bug. Not a huge problem as I can still mount the volumes via SMB manually but still a nuisance.
Got time machine up and running without any hassle backing up to my old pc via the network. Very nice app that does exactly what it says on the tin.
Other than that I need to find my old windows install discs so I ca get boot camp set up."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment

Have not installed Leopard yet waiting until all the bugs are ironed out... besides there's no need to rush over everything works fine the way I need it right now."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment
