    Small laptops

I'm considering getting an ultra portable laptop, doesn't need to be super fast just very light weight, small and have a decent battery and screen

I was thinking along the lines of 12" screen or smaller and no (built in) optical media.

not having a huge experience of such devices can anyone recommend anything?

These are great, not cheap but great.

My wife has one for work and I think she gets about 6 hours out of the battery.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I got one of these a year ago, it's great, 1.24Kg I think light really light, it really does pay off when your at the airport or whenever you travel - 7 hour battery life

I have an Acer TravelMate 3000 - not sure what the current models would be. 12 inch screen, lightweight, but still came with a gig of memory 18 months ago. Very pleased with it.

Second that, on my second Xseries (x60s) now, they are well made, small and fast. Lenovo has my vote
