I keep getting a message on my PC that there are updates available. When I check it out it is the .net framework 1.1 thing. It downloads but will not install. Does anybody know where to check to get the thing to install?

I can't directly answer your question, but you could try manually downloading and installing the .NET Framework:

It's obvious.
you require the .net Framework 1.1 update to install the .net Framework 1.1 update.

Get similar error. Tried several fixes suggested on web sites. None worked. So just told Windows Update not to bother in future with this update.Too close for missiles, I'm switching to guns.Comment

Might be worthwhile skipping the 1.1 Framework and downloading the version 2 distributable via the following ...
