I know you will laugh at me

But I am trying to configure a software firewall (Norton Internet Security)

Running a port scan at "shields up" www.grc.com shows everything stealthed & hidden

Running a port scan at Symantic or hackerwatch.org shows Telnet open, 80 open a few others closed but not stealthed

I have read a few negative comments about the shields up utility & wondered if the panel had any experience of using port probes to test firewalls recommendations

Just about to go broadband with a perm on connection so I am trying to make it as secure as possible

I tried Symantec's test myself as well, though not quite sure what it was testing against as it never seemed to show anything beyond the router/NAT, while I didn't see a single packet from anywhere on ZA (even set it to close everything at one point), and yet got similar results to yours.

Did the IP address it displayed show your actual one or are you like me also sitting behind another box?

Either way it would be a bit disconcerting if you installed Symantecs own product and then it reports your'e still not secure...
