Umm sorry I think I need to clarify a bit further. Say you start with the below table...starting with 1 = A1, a = B1 etc...

The table will be sorted by column A.

        1 a
        1 b
        1 c
        2 d
        2 e
        3 f
        3 g
        3 h

The solution will search column A.
        1. Select cells A1-A3.
        2. Merge and Centre.
        3. Select cells A4-A5.
        4. Merge and Centre.
        5. Select cells A6-A8.
        6. Merge and Centre.

and so on through the entire table...

It's purely a formatting issue which is why I think I may need to use VB or a Macro.

Yep wish I didn't have to do it but have to print some labels and I need to build the template in this format.

Use a macro or crystal reports.

Cannot be doen without a lot of moving text about. If you merge a cell it will delete all the text other than the first cell.

There is almost certainly an easier way to do what you are doing. Tell us about the problem.

Man I wish I could attach an excel sheet as an example....it would clearly show what I am trying to do.

The way the labels are printed they need to be in this format...no way around it.

Yep. And that's ok because all the cells I am merging are of the same value. That's the formatting I need to do.

The problem is that I can do it manually but it's going to take me days to get through the entire spreadsheet (total about 30000 rows).

Figured there might be a macro/VB I can right which will merge all the cells with the same values.

Does the report need to stay in Excel...'cause you could do this very easy in a Access report.

Stick the spreadsheet online somewhere and PM me the link.
