Editing Adobe Illustrator / Macromedia Freehand *.eps files

    I have some files.

    It says on the tin:

This is a vector illustration and requires vector editing software, such as Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand, to edit this file.

I just want to do some basic editing and saving as gif or png for use on the web. I don't want to spend £500 on an editor.

Are there any shareware or low cost packages that can edit these files?

    They are *.eps files

Just goes to show how rubbish Windows is (I'm assuming Windows from the error message). EPS = Encapsulated PostScript = a standard file type. OpenOffice should deal with it quite easily - http://www.openoffice.org/

No it wasn't an error message. I bought some illustrations in the hope I could edit them.

It looks like PowerPoint can edit them, so I'm sorted.

      Thanks.
