Can you have the dot/echo and use it for just streaming internet radio or do you need an account ?

The Echo dot is the top portion only of the "full" echo and contains all the exact same smart stuff, the remaining portion of the "full" Echo is just a speaker.

          So I thought that £40 Dot + £140 Sonos Play:1 > £120 Echo

I believe the radio services (e.g. TuneIn) are free, but I've got Prime so can't be 100% certain.

To get the most out of it you'll need a £79 p.a. Prime subscription.

                    Yes you can.

I have both Echo and Dot and they stream Radio using TuneIn ( you don't have to login to TuneIn, even if you have an account).

The Dot has a 3.5mm audio connector and can connect to an existing set of powered speakers, or to an amplifier using it, or to any Bluetooth speaker.

But doesn't the smart phone in your pocket already do all of this stuff.

                      What's new here?
