Change the rdp listening port on one machine (default 3389), then you can rdp to the public IP address and you will connect to one PC or the other, depending on which port number you are using.

I think this is by far the simplest method.

am I missing something?
Just port forward TCP/3389 on your firewall \ router towards the box on your internal network.
from a client on the Internet hit your WAN IP address.....
sorted!
