I'd say turn up anyway just in case they are planning to meet but just didn't want you to be there, if when you arrive there's a big group of CUKers then just sit right down and ask "so, what's the conversation about then?", feeling awkward and out of place is for permie's IMO.

Of course this plan would work better if I PM'd you my thoughts but hey ho, it's worth a try
